Dr. Dana Blakolmer
Dr. Dana Blakolmer was born and raised in Oshawa. She graduated in 1995 from University of Waterloo with honours from the Doctor of Optometry program and Bachelor of Science. During her studies, she completed an external rotation at Kaiser Permenente in Washington, DC and Falls Church, Virginia.
Upon graduation Dr. Blakolmer was a clinical supervisor at the School of Optometry at University of Waterloo and at Huronial Regional Center in Barrie. Dr. Blakolmer started private practice at the Oshawa Clinic, and opened her own practice, Dr. Dana Blakolmer and Associates, in 2002.She has participated in volunteer eye care projects in Nicaragua and Nepal with the Canada organization TWECs and Manitoulin Island with the Vision Institute of Canada. Dr. Blakolmer has special interests in digital retinal imaging, diabetic eye diseases and nutrition and the eye.
Dr. Janice Luk
Dr. Janice Luk was born and raised in Toronto. She graduated from the University of Waterloo with honours from the Doctor of Optometry program and the Bachelor of Science program. During her studies, Dr. Luk completed a clinical rotation at the Lexington Veterans Affairs Medical Center hospital in Kentucky, where she gained invaluable knowledge on the treatment of various retinal diseases, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration and glaucoma.
Dr. Luk has had the opportunity to volunteer on a mission trip with the charitable organization, VOSH, to Chiapa de Corzo, Mexico to provide eye care and glasses to underprivileged residents.
She is an active member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists, Canadian Association of Optometrists and volunteers annually with Homeless Connect to provide Toronto’s homeless with eye care.
In her spare time, Dr. Luk likes to read, travel and horseback ride. Dr. Luk believes strongly in the importance of communicating with each her patients, and feels privileged that providing eye care has become her full time occupation. She is fluent in English and Cantonese and welcomes patients of all ages.
Dr. Rebecca Wong
Dr. Rebecca Wong was born and raised in Midtown Toronto. She graduated in 2017 from the University of Waterloo with honours from the Doctor of Optometry program. She completed her Bachelor of Science from McMaster University. During her studies, Dr. Wong completed her external clinical rotation at the Lexington Veterans Affairs Medical Center hospital in Kentucky where she developed her passion for ocular disease. She also participated in a volunteer eye care mission trip to Zihuatanejo, Mexico where she performed ocular health exams to the local population.
Upon completion of her Doctor of Optometry degree, Dr. Wong continued to pursue her interest in ocular diseases and completed a Primary Care and Ocular Disease residency at NOVA Southeastern University in Florida. During her residency, she developed special interests in treating and managing all varieties of ocular disease including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, cornea and retinal diseases. She is also involved in clinical research projects and has presented at multiple optometric conferences. She recently lectured at the American Optometric Association meeting in Denver 2017.
Dr. Wong is currently a part time clinical instructor of Optometry at the University of Waterloo. Her enthusiasm for teaching and education allows her to continue to share her passion for ocular health and vision care with both her patients and students.
Dr. Dana Blakolmer & Associates evolved from a practice started by Dr. Dana Blakolmer in 2002 along with The Optical Boutique owned by her father, Karl Blakolmer.
